'TOP GLASTONBURY AREAS' AWAY FROM THE PYRAMID STAGE

Around 210,000 people are set to descend on Glastonbury Festival next month as the Somerset event returns.

Some will be hardened revellers who have been to the five-day festival many times before, while for others this will be their first time at Worthy Farm.

For those who have never visited the 1,000-acre site, a venue expert with extensive knowledge of the festival's areas has shared the top places to attend.

Harry Selway, based at VenueScanner, said: “The best thing about Glastonbury is that there’s something for everyone."

Indie and rock fans

Mr Selway picked Woodsies and The Park for this genre.

The Park homes the festival's famous Ribbon Tower, which you can climb up while listening to bands performing at the nearby stage.

Formerly called John Peel, Woodsies is an alternative hang-out to the Pyramid stage, which comes alive as an immersive area after the main stages close.

Late-night parties

For fun after the main stages close, Mr Selway advised people to head to Arcadia, Silver Hayes, Shangri-La, and NYC Downlow.

Arcadia offers DJ sets from a giant biomechanical creature. This year, The Dragonfly will take centre stage as the likes of Fat Boy Slim headline.

Silver Hayes homes four stages that "unite future-facing design with musical talent".

Glastonbury's renowned nightclub is NYC Downlow, which is based in a life-size, film set replica of a New York bathhouse-cum-meatpacking warehouse.

Acoustic and Folk

For those hoping to find an area to relax and enjoy the music, Mr Selway recommends Croissant Neuf, Bread and Roses Pub, and Strummerville.

At Croissant Neuf, festival-goers can listen to solar powered music while moving between the field's stalls and exhibits.

For pub fans, the Bread and Roses offers live music, theatre and comedy.

Situated high on the hill by Worthy Gate, Strummerville is a traditional fix for all Glasto-goers. As well as a 24-hour campfire, there is also live music and a cafe.

Glastonbury Festival returns on 26 June, with Dua Lipa, Coldplay and SZA headlining.
