A FLOWERY DOWNTOWN AUSTIN COCKTAIL LOUNGE CLOSES SUDDENLY

A very pretty downtown Austin cocktail lounge closed suddenly this week. Estelle’s, located at 400 Colorado Street, had its last day of service on Wednesday, September 4.

The restaurant posted its shutter announcement on Instagram and its website, citing that parent company NoCo Hospitality is “heartbroken to share that Estelle’s has closed its doors and will not be reopening.” No other reason was given for the closure, nor was it stated whether ownership would keep the space for a new project. Eater has reached out for more information.

Estelle’s two-floor midcentury modern lounge was filled with vintage furniture, chandeliers, framed paintings and photographs, and florals and plants. The space was anchored with a decadent grand staircase and contained a flower shop run by Native Bloom. The kitchen served New American food with lots of cold bar offerings. The bar mixed up cocktails with botanical ingredients, as well as wines.

NoCo Hospitality also runs off-South Congress nightclub Superstition, downtown bar Higher Ground, Central East Austin casual bar Skinny’s Off Track, and West Campus sports bar Victory Lap. It opened Estelle’s in May 2023, taking over the large space that was previously chain restaurant Truluck’s (which relocated to a different downtown Austin address that same year).
