RAY’S ON THE RIVER FOUNDER SELLS RESTAURANTS, RETIRING AFTER 40 YEARS

One of Atlanta’s iconic restaurants and mainstays, Ray’s on the River, won’t have its founder at the helm anymore.

Ray Schoenbaum, founder and owner of Ray’s Restaurants, which includes Ray’s at Killer Creek and Ray’s in the City, is retiring after a 40-year restaurant legacy. The three locations will operate under a new owner, Kennesaw-based TEI Hospitality, beginning in June. The restaurants are not expected to close in the meantime and will retain its staff.

“Choosing a buyer was not something I took lightly, and I am thrilled to have found someone who will continue the great tradition of Ray’s Restaurants. Nothing is going to change!” says Schoenbaum in a statement provided by the company.

The value of the sale is unknown. Ray’s on the River opened in 1984 in Sandy Springs with a prime location by the Chattahoochee River. It is known for its steak and seafood dishes, and has been an Atlanta classic for four decades.
