WHERE TO CELEBRATE BASTILLE DAY IN AUSTIN WITH FOOD AND DRINKS
Bastille Day is the celebration of a turning point in the French Revolution. And this year, it takes place on Sunday, July 14. Luckily for Austin, the city’s restaurants and bars — French and otherwise — are taking up the reins by throwing parties and offering food specials, with plenty of Champagne to go around.
Sunday, July 14
- East side French restaurant Justine’s epic Bastille Day party, dubbed Voltaire’s Basement (referring to the 1980s Austin punk club, which doesn’t exist anymore), includes loads of live music, a photobooth, pizza pop-up Slice Society, drinks, and more. Tickets are $25, which are only available at the door; and it starts at 9 p.m. (4710 East Fifth Street, Govalle)
- French sandwich and chicken spot Austin Rotisserie is going for a Bastille Day theme for its next pop-up at East Austin bar Kitty Cohen’s. It’ll serve merguez sausages sourced from the now-closed butcher shop Salt & Time. It runs from 2 to 8 p.m. (2211 Webberville Road, East Austin)
