HERE'S EVERYTHING THAT HAPPENED INSIDE THE PREVIEW BALL 2024

On the night of September 6, the Preview Ball 2024 took center stage at the Marriott Grand Ballroom at Newport World Resorts, drawing the fashion industry's brightest stars. With the theme of authenticity and "coming as you are," guests embraced the skin tone creative formal dress code, perfectly matching the evening's unique nude carpet. The event celebrated the most influential personalities in local fashion, delivering another unforgettable night of style and glamor.

Here are some of the highlights from this year’s remarkable celebration.

Preview Ball 2024 Highlights

1. Tim Yap hosted the live stream for a second year in a row

The Preview Ball 2024 guests were welcomed once more by Filipino fashion extraordinaire Tim Yap, who hosted the live stream for the second time in a row. From 2023’s black carpet, Tim helmed this year’s nude-colored halls, as he greeted celebrities, creatives, industry friends, and Preview’s starry guests, who’ve all come in their iterations of a skin-toned look.

2. We served coffee and cocktails at the Preview Cafe

Before they stepped into the main halls, the Ball guests had a taste of aperitifs, as we transported them to a sophisticated coffee spot at the Preview Cafe. Attendees got their caffeine power-up with coffee served in collaboration with Nespresso. Cocktails by Manila Craft filled up the other side of the menu, a pitch-perfect starter for a night to remember.

3. We went back to print (for a day!) with Preview Daily

Missed us on your newsstands? Hot off the presses at the Ball were copies of Preview Daily, a mini-newspaper exclusively made for this year’s event! Guests rifled through the pages, which featured 2024’s Best Dressed list, the Best Filipino Fashion Designers, and this year’s Style Icon awardee, Tweetie De Leon-Gonzalez.

Don’t fret, though–Preview’s daily fresh content is always available on Preview.ph!

4. We had a "secret" Preview photobooth

Some guests were able to find their way to our "secret" photobooth inside the Ball's hallways! These attendees posed behind the creatives behind Studio Torio, with photos lensed by Karlo Torio and video direction by JF Calimag. The stars were backdropped by a Rocketsets-designed setting, which featured a live feed on an LED screen that made for a cinematic mirror effect. See all the photos here!

5. Preview’s Editor-in-Chief Marj Ramos-Clemente set the tone for the evening with a speech

"Tonight, we asked you to come in the ‘skin’ you're comfortable in," Preview’s Editor-in-Chief Marj Ramos-Clemente began, as she elucidated on this year’s "authentic" theme. "As we celebrate authenticity, we honor the individuals who have mastered fashion as a language to tell a story—from this year’s Best Dressed with the most diverse stories to our Style Icon, whose enduring story is among the first ones we have ever told."

"The cover—and everything you’ll see tonight—is a love letter to all of our five-year-old selves. The same letter Preview has been writing in the past 29 years: ‘Authenticity looks good on you.’"

6. We awarded this year’s Best Dressed honorees onstage

Celebrating our annual Best Dressed list, this year’s awardees were honored onstage by Preview's Senior Publisher Maika Bernardo Yu and Assistant Managing Editor Reg Rodriguez. The 2024 honorees epitomized authenticity through their expression of their sartorial sense, and among them included Ces Drilon, Toff de Venecia, Matteo Guidicelli, Jason Dhakal, Xtina Superstar, Niana Guerrero, and Issa Pressman, who each received their trophy.

7. Tweetie De Leon-Gonzalez returned to Preview to receive the 2024 Style Icon award

Making her grand return to the Preview spotlight is supermodel and '90s icon Tweetie De Leon-Gonzalez. The Filipina star made history as the first-ever Preview cover girl, as she graced the magazine’s front page in its maiden issue in June 1995. This time around, Tweetie accepted the 2024 Style Icon award from Myrza SisonPreview's founding fashion editor, honoring Tweetie's stature and iconic presence in the Philippine fashion industry.

8. We showcased the works of the Best Filipino Fashion Designer 2024 honorees

Strutting the ballroom halls were the muses and models of this year’s Best Filipino Fashion Designer honorees Rik Rasos of Proudrace, Gabbie Sarenas, Neric Beltran, Martin Bautista, and Joseph Bagasao of BAGASÁO, who showcased each designer’s custom-made looks with their chosen muses. Alongside a grant of P100,000 each, the creatives were then honored with awards by Preview Creative Director Bacs Arcebal and Summit Media's General Manager for Online Anne Christine Sandejas for their exemplary show of Filipino talent in fashion.

9. We unveiled our much-awaited September cover featuring Kathryn Bernardo

The Kath’s out of the bag! Preview unveiled a new work of art–the September 2024 cover featuring Kathryn Bernardo. As the editorial video played onstage with the participation of illustrator Jethro Ian Lacson, Kathryn was then illuminated by a spotlight to reveal her presence. Her latest Preview cover recognizes her take on authenticity in her life and much-lauded career.

10. Summit Media’s Chief Operating Officer, Howard Go, ended the program with a celebratory toast to Preview

Howard Go, the chief operating officer of Summit Media, capped off the program with a speech in honor of Preview’s 29-year history.

"In the last 29 years, Preview has gone from strength to strength. It has been the authority in fashion since 1995, with millions anticipating its monthly covers. Today, with dynamic covers on giant billboards across the country, Preview’s signature look has become truly iconic," he began.

"This year alone, Preview’s covers have accumulated a reach of 54 million—and counting. As a leading digital lifestyle destination that champions creativity, inclusivity, and diversity, Preview has maintained a loyal following with 12 million views monthly across its platforms."

The rest of the Preview team joined onstage, where they shared a rousing toast.

11. The after-party began with DJ Xtina Superstar at the booth

The night wasn't over yet! Best Dressed 2024 honoree Xtina Superstar returned to a different stage, the DJ booth, to set the tunes for the after-party, with guests dancing to the upbeat music that filled the ballroom.

What a night! See you at the next Preview Ball!
