(SPOT.ph) Exciting news for Quezon City residents: The local government has officially made the QCity Bus program permanently free under Ordinance No. SP-3184, S-2023.
The Land Transportation and Franchising Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has approved the operation of eight routes for the Quezon City Bus Augmentation Program. It runs daily following a scheduled trip.
Commuters get a comfortable and connected journey as each bus is equipped with air-conditioning and free Wi-Fi.
"Sabi sa inyo may forever eh…Dito lang 'yan sa QC," City Mayor Joy Belmonte wrote in a Facebook post on June 7. Free QCity Bus rides have been around since 2020, having served over 12 million residents in Quezon City. It was originally launched as a pandemic initiative but has continued operating amid rising fuel costs and fare prices.
The free bus program is currently open to the public, but it will eventually become exclusive for Quezon City residents with a QCitizen ID.
