I TRIED BOOTS' UNDER £30 BEAUTY EDIT THAT'S PERFECT FOR HOLIDAYS THIS SUMMER

With many shoppers heading on holiday in the coming weeks, many beauty fans will be looking for solutions to avoid taking the entire contents of their makeup bag and skincare cupboard in their suitcase - myself included. But instead of awkwardly decanting products into travel pots or spending a fortune buying minis of everything, I’ve found the ultimate solution at Boots that saves time, space and money.

The health and beauty retailer has launched a Wanderlust Minis Collection, which boasts a selection of travel-sized favourites from brands like Liz Earle, Milk Makeup, and Rituals which are perfect for packing for a week away. Worth £92.23, it’s priced at £28, saving more than £60 on the RRP, with one product being worth the same cost as the box itself.

The edit comes packaged in a neat, zipper cork washbag that not only looks cute, but is hand luggage-friendly too thanks to its transparent front and back. It’s the ideal size for travelling, and can be used time and time again after you’ve used the products inside.

Inside are nine travel-sized heroes including a cleanser, eye cream and moisturiser for your skincare routine, alongside a luxurious Rituals shower foam and hair mask to upgrade your holiday shower routine. Meanwhile, there’s a mini Sol De Janeiro Bum Bum Cream which has become something of a cult product with a summer-ready scent.

When it comes to makeup, a good setting spray is a must in the heat, so the Benefit Setting Spray fun size is ideal for keeping you looking glam all day, and it the ideal size for throwing in your bag to top up throughout the day too. There’s also a mini Urban Decay eyeliner for taking you from day-to-night in one swipe, as well as a Milk Makeup Lip and Cheek stick, which is a fantastic multi-functional product you can use to add a pop of colour to your cheeks, lips or eyes in a matter of seconds, no matter if you’re wearing a full face of makeup or not.

Now I appreciate that this kit doesn’t contain absolutely everything required for a week away, for example, some may wish to pack a toner, or a mini mascara, but for the most part, the haul really covers the essentials. There’s a great variety across body, hair, skin and makeup, which also allows you to try multiple high-end brands without committing to full-sized products, with Boots having selected brands that are incredibly hot right now, such as Milk and Sol De Janeiro. Plus, there’s even a £10 voucher for points on your next Ole Henriksen purchase as an added bonus.

While the travel sizes are convenient, some products are quite small, like the Ole Henriksen BB Eye Sample at just 3ml, which while ideal for a week away, wouldn’t really give users the opportunity to see any lasting results from the product. Plus with curated boxes, there's always a risk that not every product will suit your personal preferences or skin type. For me, I don’t love haircare, so will likely gift the Phillip Kingsley mask to a friend. Plus, if you already own some of these products or similar ones, the box might not offer as much novelty value, so it’s always worth checking the contents before you purchase.

Here’s everything inside the Wanderlust Minis Collection:

  • Sol De Janeiro Bum Bum cream 25ml

  • Ole Henriksen- BB Eye Sample 3ml

  • Philip Kingsley Swimcap 40ml

  • Liz Earle Skin Repair Light Cream 50ml Tube

  • Benefit Setting spray fun size

  • Milk Makeup Lip and Cheek Werk Deluxe

  • Grown Alchemist Gentle Gel Facial Cleanser 50mL

  • Rituals The Ritual of Karma Mini Shower Foam 50ml

  • Urban Decay Eyeliner mini

  • £10/€10 worth of points with every Ole purchase voucher

The edit has racked up a number of positive reviews from shoppers, though some didn’t love every product, commenting: “Definitely loved the presentation, didn't like about two products within.” However the majority of reviews have been five-star, with another commenting: “I love it. I bought one for myself and was so impressed that I ordered another for an upcoming birthday present.”

Another added: “Really pleased with the variety and quality of all the products in the box. Think it’s great value for all the contents,” with another shopper penning: “Just received mine. Sizes are perfect and practical. Overall, I found it so cute and girlish.”

For me, this is a great way to trial a number of shopper-loved products from reliable brands at an affordable price point. It’s perfect for taking on holiday, and you get more than triple your money’s worth of products back - not to mention a very cute washbag. Worth £92.23, the edit is priced at £28, saving around 60 per cent compared to buying the items individually and making each item work out at £3.11 each.

Elsewhere, Glossybox’s Summer Beauty Bag 2024 allows shoppers to snap up a £55 Medik8 eye cream for £4. The haul costs £40, but is worth over £150, and contains 10 beauty, skincare and haircare products. For something a little more premium, though, Liberty’s Sun, Set, Glow edit is £115, but worth £377, saving over £260 in the RRP
