(SPOT.ph) Any mention of a bahay kubo immediately conjures images of vast plains, a bountiful harvest of vegetables—you know, stuff you would shabbily draw as a kid. But you might want to update that notion. Take this contemporary bahay kubo we spotted recently, for example, perched on the mountains of Rizal. It's called Camp Lupita, where a bahay kubo has been outfitted with modern creature comforts, starting at P6,400 per night.

Check out Camp Lupita, a modern bahay kubo in Tanay, Rizal:

Camp Lupita is a 500-square-meter property around one and a half hours away from Quezon City. The campgrounds are vast and sloping, perfect for pitching tents and enjoying the quiet and serene mountainside. But if roughing it out in the great outdoors isn't necessarily your idea of a relaxing time, the property's main house—a modern bahay kubo—is located on the far end of the area.

This main house is a charming bungalow decorated in minimalist, wooden, and nipa Filipino decor. It has two bedrooms, each with a queen-sized bed. For larger groups, you can ask the caretaker to set up an additional single mattress and convert the common area into another sleeping space. The bedrooms are kept cool by ceiling fans. Yes, there's no air conditioning, but honestly, you won't need it because this area of Rizal gets cold at night, almost like being in Tagaytay or Baguio.

As this is a modern kubo, its two bathrooms offer urban creature comforts such as proper plumbing, showers, bidets, and toilets. There's even a fully functional kitchen for all your cooking needs.  More importantly, for the chronically online, there's also Wi-Fi strong enough that you can binge watch Netflix, Disney+, Amazon Prime and HBO Go offerings or sing your hearts out by streaming videoke tracks on Youtube Premium.

All of these are nice and good but the real stars of a stay in Camp Lupita are its stunning views. You may have spotted them in the photos above, but the property—especially the main house—has floor-to-ceiling windows offering unobstructed views of the surrounding Sierra Madre mountains. You can even step out into the veranda to enjoy all that plus the cool, fresh air too.

You can even ask the caretaker to set up a bonfire and chill under the stars at night.

Make sure to wake up early. You might glimpse the sea of clouds enveloping the surrounding mountains.

If you love wildlife, the area is home to various animals such as hawks, crows, owls, monkeys, and other creatures.

Fair warning, though, all these views come with a price. The property is a 10-minute walk from the main highway and parking area. Parts of this walk will be on unpaved trails which can get muddy after a period of rain. It might be hard for guests with limited mobility to get around so make sure to consider that before booking.

Camp Lupita is in Sitio Mayagay, Barangay Cuyambay, Tanay, Rizal. Rates start at P6,400 per night for up to 10 guests. Book this property on Airbnb. For more information, visit Camp Lupita's Facebook page.
