teamLab Botanical Garden Osaka is located outdoors. It's a botanical garden by day and transforms into an art space by night. Sure, there are other teamLab exhibits around the world but what's unique about teamLab Botanical Garden Osaka is that it is a permanent outdoor attraction. Yup, this isn't your typical immersive show in a closed and controlled space. There are a lot of natural elements at play here, and that adds to the beauty of this attraction.

The exhibition is based on teamLab’s art project, Digitized Nature, which explores how nature can become art. At teamLab Botanical Garden, the space transforms interactively, influenced by wind and rain, as well as by the behavior of the people and birds, making all these factors an essential part of the work.

The statement the project wants to make is that non-material digital technology can turn nature into art without harming it.

Where is the teamLab Botanical Garden Osaka located?

teamLab Botanical Garden Osaka is located within the Nagai Botanical Garden, a 240,000-square-meter green space with a large lake in the center within Osaka's Higashisumiyoshi Ward.

During the day, the Nagai Botanical Garden is open to the general public as your usual public park, and the artworks and immersive attractions are not turned on. It is a man-made ecosystem within the city, home to many wild bird such as Northern goshawks and owls.

Once the sun sets, the park takes on a new look. When darkness envelops the park, teamLab's attractions come to life, turning the park's flora and surfaces into a canvas for digital art. TLDR: Operating hours vary depending on the sunset time. The park is open longer on days with longer nights, such as autumn and winter.
