E-TRAVEL NOW HAS SINGULAR QR CODE FOR ALL AIRPORT CLEARANCES

(SPOT.ph) Good news for travelers! Getting through customs, immigration, and quarantine clearances in the Philippines just got a whole lot easier with the Enhanced e-Travel System.

The Bureau of Customs (BOC), Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), and other partner agencies launched the Enhanced e-Travel System for what they hope to be a smoother, faster, and more secure travel experience for passengers starting today, July 10.

Previously, the e-Travel System also produced a QR code, but travelers still had to deal with multiple forms for different airport clearances like customs, immigration, and quarantine.

This enhanced version introduces a single QR code for each passenger. This QR code covers the requirements of various departments, providing them real-time data. For travelers, this means no other forms and a possible reduction in wait times at checkpoints.

"Sa immigration, pagka-scan ng passport, hindi nakailangan magtanong pa. Hindi na magtatanong 'yan kung meron kang permits kasi naka-integrate na. Hindi na rin siya mageencode ng napakaraming data kasi automatic na ‘yung pag fill-up ng information. This is a simplified but impactful innovation,"  DICT Undersecretary for eGovernment David Almirol said during the launch.

What is e-Travel?

The eTravel System was introduced in 2022 for all international travelers entering and exiting the Philippines. It replaced the One Heath Pass that was part of the travel requirements brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic.

eTravel is a web-based online platform with a mobile-friendly interface through any Internet browser. It can be accessed through a smartphone, tablet, laptop, or personal computer with a stable Internet connection.

To sign up, go to etravel.gov.ph and fill in your personal information, travel information, and health declaration. eTravel users get a QR code, which can be downloaded after registration or received through e-mail. It is then shown to respective scanners at the airport or before boarding your flight.
