(SPOT.ph) The name Westin may be familiar for those who remember the old Philippine Plaza in Manila. Now, the brand is coming back, this time with a new hotel right in the Ortigas Business District. We know you've heard the term "oasis in the city" enough times in your life, but trust us when we say there's no other way to describe this hotel—especially thanks to its focus on wellness.
This hotel is situated along San Miguel Avenue. You've likely passed by the spot a million times before, so if you've ever wondered what this new building there is all about, allow us to lay it down for you. Westin Manila is part of the Westin Hotels & Resorts, one of Marriott Bonvoy's 30 hotel brands across the globe, and was developed in partnership with Robinsons Land Corporation.

Now, Ortigas has more than its fair share of hotels, so what makes Westin Manila different? Having just officially opened on March 12, Westin Manila brings with it a type of stay that focuses on giving you the best rest and wellness possible in the city. "We are thrilled to celebrate the opening of The Westin Manila, marking the brand’s re-entry in the Philippines as well as another milestone in its expansion in Asia-Pacific," said Jennifer Connell, Global Brand Leader of Westin Hotels during the launch. "With its signature programming, the new hotel will bring to life the Westin brand promise that delivers complete wellness experiences for travelers and locals alike."
Westin Manila occupies a 32-storey building with interiors clad in clean, modern, and most importantly, comfortable fittings. Stepping into their lobby, it will be hard to ignore a wall of plants they have by the front desk—a tell of the brand's push for biophilia. After all, nothing adds a more genuine touch than a bit of nature.
Westin has a total of 303 rooms, 57 of which are suites. Their rooms are arguably some of the biggest you'd find at a hotel nowadays with 41 square meters being the smallest. Meanwhile, the suites have a separate living area for extra space. Note that each room, whether a suite or not, comes with a shower and bathtub en suite reminiscent of a Japanese wet-room, so yes, you'll get a comforting soak in the tub no matter which you choose.
Its location in Ortigas pretty much guarantees sweet views of the business district, so make sure to ask for a room higher up. And even if you don't, it's not too much of a loss as chances are you'll be too comfy and cozy in their Heavenly beds to even look out the window. Westin has their own line for the beddings (mattress included), toiletries, and more—heck, even the robe is Heavenly—all of which were made to get you into the most relaxed state of mind. Think beddings made of bamboo cotton for extra breathability and lightness, combined with a down that envelopes you into a warm hug you'll have the hardest time getting out of in the morning; a lengthy bathrobe with extra plush too for a cozy wrap; and toiletries made with white tea scents to help calm you even further.

Apart from making the most out of the cozy Heavenly line—i.e. burrowing yourself in bed, wrapped up in the robe, fresh and clean from a white tea soak in the tub—you can aim for a wellness refresh at this hotel's amenities. They've hit at different facets of the term. To keep active, there's a 25-meter lap pool at the fourth floor (where there are also day beds and a wading pool if you'd rather not move) and a 24/7 gym. You can ask the Westin team for help planning a jogging route around Ortigas with their "Run Concierge"; if you're totally new to the area or just need extra support, you can even have a team member run with you.
Keep watch for June 2023 as that's when the Heavenly Spa by WESTIN is slated to open. This will be the place to go to for scrubs, couple massages, mani-pedis and more treat-yourself moments.
Being in the center of the city, Westin provides a place for all sorts of events. From big get-togethers and celebrations at their ballroom—which can accommodate up to 330 guests—or smaller, more serious business meets, Westin has your back.
For a chill time, the spacious Lobby Lounge is where to go. Open till late, you can vibe out with a drink in hand via the Crafted by Westin beverage menu while listening to live music. Go up one floor to the mezzanine and you'll be at Seasonal Tastes, their all-day dining restaurant. Breakfast and dinner buffets are served up here, with quality over quantity in mind. You can't go wrong with whatever you choose from their well-curated spread.
Coming soon are a Pool Bar for cocktails by the, you guessed it, pool and way up at the 32nd floor will be a Tapas Bar & Restaurant. We can already imagine ourselves munching on little plates of Spanish treats while surrounded by panoramic views of the city.
Any Manila resident would know Ortigas' shopping scene like the back of their hand. Located just down San Miguel Avenue from the hotel is The Podium, and right by that is SM Megamall. The two malls are mainstays for all sorts of shopping, and even eating, needs. Shangri-La Plaza is a few shakes the other way.
