SERIES OF ISSUES CAUSING FLIGHT DELAYS - AURIGNY

Guernsey airline Aurigny has apologised to customers after a series of delays and disruptions this week.

Bad weather, a bird strike and technical problems on one aircraft had led to the problems experienced since Monday, the airline said.

It said one of its leased planes had been sent to Toulouse, France, for an inspection and would be out of action until its landing gear was replaced.

A new ATR plane, which came into service last week, is still waiting on follow-up checks.

'Unforeseen challenges'

The States-owned airline said it was working to ensure normal service "resumed as quickly as possible" but weather disruption was continuing.

"We remain committed to providing our customers with the highest standard of service and reliability," it said.

"This week, we encountered a series of unforeseen challenges, but we're actively working to ensure that these are managed effectively.

"Despite these challenges, we are utilising our complete fleet including our Dornier aircraft and crew wherever possible to maintain service continuity."
