BORACAY'S NONIE'S OPENS FIRST METRO MANILA BRANCH IN ALABANG

(SPOT.ph) Nonie's is a familiar name for those who frequent Boracay's in-demand dining spots—especially if we're discussing vegetarian Filipino dishes. If you've got no plans to go to the island anytime soon to try their smoothie bowls and adobo plates, don't worry: Nonie's has finally opened its first-ever Metro Manila, after living the island life in Boracay for seven years.

Check out Boracay's Nonie's first Metro-based branch in Alabang:

The Nonie's in Alabang—inside the Molito Lifestyle Center—may look a little different from Boracay, and we're chalking that up to one heck of a glowup. The Alabang location exudes a laidback beach vibe; think a mix of warm, sunburnt colors with ocean-blue hues, a harmonious usage of flora and wood, and a space that naturally lights up when the sun is out to play and then gets a warmer ambiance come nighttime

"After seven years of growth and evolution, we felt it was time for an update. A fresh, new look that reflects our journey and vision," says Derrick Perez, head chef of Nonie’s. "We wanted to maintain our focus on locally sourced ingredients and Filipino-inspired cuisine while enhancing the overall dining experience."

What to order at Nonie's

The Alabang branch has more or less the same menu as Boracay's. If it's your first time dining at Nonie's, the Chicken and Pork Adobo (P540) is a must. This dish has two main proteins: grilled chicken adobo with the perfect amount of char in its skin while retaining its juicy meat, and then the 72-hour crispy pork belly. The plate is served with a soft-boiled egg, Cavite-style adobo sauce which has an orange tinge and a puree-like consistency, candied garlic, and comes with organic black rice.

While the Tempeh Kare-Kare (P520) is another crowd-favorite Nonie's menu, we're going a different route and recommending the Fish and Prawn Curry (P580). This has fresh fish and the sweetest prawns swimming in a homemade curry that can make you sweat buckets if you have a low tolerance for spicy food.

With this much spice in one dish, we're thankful it comes with rice. We love pairing this with the sweet and tangy Liquid Sunshine (P230), a cold press juice made with pineapple, mandarin, orange, and apple. You can also go for any of their fruity smoothies topped with chia seeds if you want something more dessert-drink like.

The most popular desserts on the menu are Nonie's Halo-Halo (P250) and the Flourless Chocolate Cake (P280), but there's no need to limit yourself to the dessert selection—under the "Bowls" category, we're recommending the Tableya Smoothie Bowl (P390). This smoothie bowl is made with local chocolate, banana, peanut butter, raw cacao nibs, and chia seeds. Really, what's not to like with a chocolate, banana, and peanut butter combination?

Nonie's Alabang opens its doors today, April 27, and will be in a soft opening phase.

Nonie's Alabang is at Molito Lifestyle Center, Muntinlupa City, right beside Cheeserolls by Miss J and across Single Origin. Open 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., from Monday to Friday, and 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., from Saturday to Sunday.
