HYATT REGENCY PERTH TO CLOSE AFTER 36 YEARS

  • Hotel in Perth's CBD will close on August 31

The Hyatt Regency Perth will close its doors after 36 years, having hosted high-profile stars such as Justin Bieber and Britney Spears.

The hotel, in Adelaide Terrace, in the city's CBD will officially close on August 31, after Singapore-based owner Tuan Sing Holdings Limited announced it was going to terminate its contract with the American hospitality company.

The hotel and Tuan Sing said they will get in contact with customers who have future bookings and will also work to try and redeploy staff.

Tuan Sing said the decision was made 'as part of its long-term business strategy', and after the hotel stops operating, the property will be 'repositioned and rebranded'.

'It is with much regret that Hyatt Regency Perth will cease to operate, but we are grateful to have had the privilege to serve and care for all who have come through its doors,' Hyatt Regency Perth general manager Thiva Kesavan said.

'As we navigate this challenging period, our thoughts are with all those affected by the hotel's closure and we are committed to ensuring they are supported.'

The Hyatt Regency Perth will continue to host guests up until it closes.
