BOATING LAKE CLEANED AS SEARCH FOR LEAK CONTINUES
A 1930s seaside boating lake is being cleaned up as a search for a leak continues.
The lake in Newcomen Terrace, Coatham, Redcar, has been blighted by continued low levels of water.
Redcar and Cleveland Council leader Alec Brown, said plans for a long-term refurbishment of the lake were planned.
The issues have also left members of Redcar Model Boat Club unable to use the lake, according to the Local Democracy Reporting Service.
Mr Brown said he was "pleased" that the lake was being cleaned and added it would be refilled next week.
"Investigations are ongoing to identify a leak.
"We are also developing plans for the longer term to refurbish the lake and replace the pump," he said.
Mr Brown said previously that the local authority had spent £7,000 on a replacement pump, with levelling up funds intended to be used for more repairs.
