FINAL CHANCE TO HAVE SAY ON WALKING AND CYCLING ROUTES

People in Wiltshire are being given one more chance to share their views on planned walking and cycling routes.

Wiltshire Council has released its proposals for two Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plans (LCWIPs) in Calne and Melksham.

The council said it wanted to enable and encourage more trips to be made on foot and by bike in a bid to improve people's health, cut carbon emissions and reduce traffic.

This is the second and final stage of the consultation and the deadline is 6 September.

Councillor Tamara Reay, cabinet member for transport, said: "There are many benefits to leaving the car at home and choosing to cycle or walk particularly for shorter journeys.

"It can help improve health and air quality, reduce carbon emissions, and save people money."

The LCWIPs will be used to inform the planning process where relevant and future funding from the Department for Transport for active travel schemes will be linked to the walking and cycling schemes in each published plan.

Once the final consultation is complete, all comments will be considered before final LCWIPs for Calne and Melksham are published.
