TRADING STANDARDS WARNING OVER INFLATABLE EVENT

Trading Standards officers are looking into adverts for an inflatable park event in Coventry.

Coventry City Council urged members of the public not to book tickets for The Big Jump Inflatable Park, saying it had not been approached to book the venue and would not be going ahead.

It was advertised to take place at Hearsall Common from 26 August to 2 September from 10:00 BST until 20:00, with tickets costing £9. An online ticket site has since been taken down.

The organiser, The Big Jump, has declined the chance to comment.

Commenting on its own Facebook post, the council advised anyone who believed they had been a victim of a scam to report it to Citizens Advice.

A similar occurrence by the same company was reported in Southend.

Parents were left feeling "very foolish" after buying tickets for an inflatable park event which was also not approved by Southend Council with a warning being issued by Trading Standards.

A spokesperson for Coventry City Council said: "We've been made aware of an event advertised as taking place at Hearsall Common this summer.

"The Big Jump - Inflatable Park has not been given approval and, as far as we are aware, is not planned to take place.

"We have not been approached about a booking for the common.

"Our Trading Standard Team is aware. Please do not be tempted to book tickets."
