WEEKEND FESTIVAL OF FINE FOOD OPENS IN FOLKESTONE
A festival is being held in Folkestone over the weekend as part of the town's push to be recognised as one of Kent's "foodie destinations".
The event aims to highlight the range of dining experiences available across the town.
It will feature masterclasses and demonstrations, with pop up stalls and live music.
It will also highlight regeneration work that has taken place in Sandgate Road and Guildhall Road.
One of the organisers is John Graham, owner of Cabron in Rendezvous Street.
He said: "We’ve got some fantastic food and drink businesses here in Folkestone and we’re beginning to be recognised as a foodie destination in our own right.
"I’m thrilled to be helping bring about a festival to showcase our wonderful local produce and local culinary talents."
Events will include a plant-based menu and tequila, sourdough and cocktail masterclasses.
Council leader Jim Martin said: “I’m delighted to see so many local businesses getting involved with Folkestone Food Festival.
“This is one in a series of pilot events we’re co-producing with businesses to test what works in Folkestone town centre. I hope this is something that will become a regular fixture in the town centre calendar going forward.”
The events will run from 11:00 BST to 21:00 on Saturday and 11:00 to 18:00 on Sunday.
