WHEN WILL THE OLYMPICS BE IN USA? DATE, LOCATION AND MORE TO KNOW ABOUT NEXT SUMMER GAMES IN LOS ANGELES

The Olympics don't have a permanent home. Rather, they travel from country to country, city to city every two years.

The United States, France, Japan, and Australia have all had an opportunity to host the Games at least once. The International Olympics Committee votes for who they believe should host the next Olympics.

Despite the committee spreading the love to all corners of the world, there are still a few places that have become the most popular spots for the Olympics. Paris, France is one of them, as the city hosts its third Olympic Games in its history this year.

Los Angeles is another, with two under its belt and a third on its way. Here's when to expect the Olympics to return to Los Angeles.

When will the Olympics be in USA?

The Olympics will be back in the United States in 2028. It will be the ninth time the U.S. hosts the Olympic Games since they began in 1896.

The Games will be held in Los Angeles, which will become just the third city in history to host three separate Olympics. Los Angeles hosted the Summer Olympics in 1932 and 1984.

The 2028 Games will also be the summer edition, as Los Angeles will join Paris and London as the only three cities to host three times.

When was the Olympics last in USA?

The Olympics haven't been in the United States since 2002, so the 2028 games will break a 26-year drought.

Many of the younger generation may not remember or even have been born for the 2002 Games, so this will be an opportunity to witness the Olympics in the U.S. for the first time.

Salt Lake City, Utah was the host for the the 19th edition of the Winter Games in 2002. It was the eighth time the United States hosted and first time in Salt Lake City.

Olympics future locations

The IOC plans ahead, nominating cities as the host years in advance. This allows for the country to build and plan for the massive influx of fans and athletes for the Olympics.

It's a pricey responsibility, but it's considered an honor to be named the host. If done successfully, the country can profit.
