E-TRAVEL SYSTEM ROLL OUT BEGINS

ARRIVING and departing international passengers can use the e-Travel Customs System for baggage and electronic currency declaration starting Friday, May 10.

Customs Commissioner Bienvenido Rubio said on Thursday that international passengers can accomplish the task online by visiting https://etravel.gov.ph/ within 72 hours prior to arrival or departure from the Philippines.

For seamless travel clearance, one QR code per passenger shall be used in the electronic system.

Rubio added that for Philippine currency, a person may bring or take out of the Philippines an amount not exceeding P50,000.

"Amounts in excess of the P50,000 limit should have a prior written authorization from the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas," he said.

Rubio warned that violations of the rules on cross-border transfer of currencies or false declaration or non-declaration of Philippine or foreign currencies shall result in confiscation by Customs authorities.

The e-Travel Customs System is a joint project of the Bureau of Customs, Bureau of Immigration, Department of Information and Communications Technology, Department of Tourism, Bureau of Quarantine, Department of Health, Department of Transportation, Department of Justice, and National Privacy Commission.
