FREE FLIGHTS IN 2025? SOUTHWEST AIRLINES' FLASH PROMO OFFERS COMPANION PASS

Southwest Airlines' sought-after Companion Pass is back, but only for a short period of time.

The U.S. carrier is running a flash promotion offering members of its frequent flyer Rapid Rewards program a two-month Companion Pass when they purchase or redeem points for one round-trip or two one-way flights from now until 11:59 p.m. CST on Thursday, Sept. 5. The flight must be completed before Nov. 20.

With the Companion Pass, the member can designate one person to travel with them for free on unlimited flights between Jan. 6 and March 6, 2025. Travelers do have to pay taxes and fees, which start at $5.60 one way.

It's an end of an era: Southwest Airlines is getting rid of its open seating policy

"We love offering this Companion Pass promotion because it allows our Members to experience one of the many benefits of our award-winning Rapid Rewards program," said Jennifer Bridie, vice president of marketing at Southwest Airlines, in a statement.

While Companion Passes are typically reserved for elite Rapid Rewards status, they will be available to any member through this promotion. The last time Southwest offered the pass to members was in May for qualifying flights to Hawaii.
