HOTEL INSPECTOR STAR SLAMMED OVER SCATHING 1-WORD DESCRIPTION OF HOTEL WORKERS

Alex Polizzi is known for her expertise in the hospitality industry and entertaining fans with shows including The Hotel Inspector. However, she previously came under fire for one of her comments which left viewers 'fuming'.

Channel 5 series My Hotel Nightmare gave viewers a glimpse into how hospitality expert Alex Polizzi tackled the challenge of opening her own hotel after years of advising others on how to do it.

However, some viewers were less than impressed with Alex's management style in 2021 and her treatment of the construction workers during the show, as she decided to open her own hotel.

While she had been assisting her mum Olga in running their family's luxury hotels in Cornwall, the show showcased her first venture into owning her own establishment.

In 2019, Alex and her mother purchased The Star Hotel, a 37-bedroom medieval inn situated in East Sussex.

What was initially planned as a six-month project turned into a real struggle, with Alex facing unforeseen challenges and escalating costs.

In the an episode in 2021, viewers saw Alex overseeing the renovation work at The Star. After months of delays, the hotelier finally witnessed a significant transformation of the rooms.

Alex's initial plan involved renovating the bedrooms in the centre of the hotel by knocking down the internal walls between the existing 10 rooms to create seven larger bedrooms.

The Star set Alex and her mum back £2 million. However, Olga justified the cost, saying: "To get 30 rooms in East Sussex in a very pretty village, gosh this is a bargain for just over £2million."

During the renovations, Alex expressed her frustration with the quality of work being done. "Mum we have an issue," she voiced during a phone call with Olga.

Alex was left gobsmacked after discovering the builders had taken it upon themselves to paint a wall gold. "It's just awful," she exclaimed.

"You didn't ask them to do this right? " she quizzed her mum, before venting her frustration at the workers. "Builders are everywhere, with their s**t everywhere! We need to get this sorted. I can't open like this, can I? " she fumed.

Viewers were quick to share their thoughts on Alex's management style on social media, with them particularly upset over her referring to staff as 'Minions'. "I like #AlexPolizzi, but I don't think calling your staff Minions and shouting at builders on TV is a good look," one viewer commented.

"Treating people who work for you with such utter disrespect and contempt, voted leave and now moaning about lack of staff. Karma I hope," another chimed in.

After rectifying the wall situation and completing most of the renovations, Alex was able to snap some photos of the gorgeous rooms and finally welcome guests into her hotel.

Despite the ongoing renovation works, Alex decided to open the hotel doors to guests.

On opening day, Alex faced a series of mishaps that she despises - from incorrect dinner reservations to the hotel's fire alarm blaring intermittently throughout the evening.

"I'm literally going to have a heart attack," she grumbled.

However, fans were full of praise for her stunning hotel on social media: "Congratulations on The Star it looks amazing cannot wait to see it in person later on this year."

In October 2021, The Star in Alfriston named the best hotel in the south east by The Sunday Times.
