RYANAIR REVEALS BUSIEST MONTH EVER AS PASSENGER NUMBERS SOAR TO 19.3M

Ryanair has just announced a record-breaking month, with passenger numbers soaring to new heights.

The airline, headquartered in Dublin, revealed that 19.3 million passengers chose Ryanair for their travels in June. This figure marks an increase of 10.9% from the 17.4 million passengers recorded in the same month last year. Meanwhile, Wizz Air experienced a slight dip in its passenger numbers during the same timeframe.

The airline reported that 5.3 million passengers flew with them last month, a marginal decrease of 0.2% from June 2023. Wizz Air also noted a small drop in load factor, a measure of how full flights are by 0.6 percentage points to 91.7%, attributing this to "a focus on overall revenue management".

In another aviation sector update, Manchester Airports Group (MAG), which operates Manchester, Stansted, and East Midlands airports, has surpassed pre-pandemic passenger levels for the first time since the health crisis began. A total of 61.3 million passengers passed through MAG's airports in the year ending March, overtaking the 54 million in 2022/23 and the 59.6 million in 2019/20.

MAG's operating profit for the latest financial year hit £240.1million, considering "accounting for one-offs", a significant leap from the £28.6million of the preceding year. Ken O'Toole, MAG's chief executive, commented on the growth, stating that the surge in passenger traffic underscores "the vital role our airports play in connecting people and businesses to the world ".

He said: "Our growing route networks are providing access to more than 200 destinations, and we are committed to giving passengers the best possible choice to help them shape their journeys to suit their needs. I am proud of the high levels of customer service we have been able to provide across this reporting period and thank all of our colleagues and partners for delivering that."

"MAG has also continued to play a leading role in supporting the transition to net zero carbon aviation by 2050, and that will continue in earnest in the year ahead. As an island trading nation, we know that aviation has a critical role to play in the UK's economic future."

"Aviation creates high-quality jobs and enables global trade, investment and tourism, and we know that the UK's economic sectors that will drive the most growth in the years ahead rely on global connectivity more than others. As the UK elects a new government, we look forward to working with them on an industrial strategy for the country that is underpinned by the sustainable growth of aviation."
