SOME PASSENGERS TAKE LAST-MINUTE TRIPS FOR HOLY WEEK BREAK

Several passengers took last-minute trips back to their respective provinces on Maundy Thursday.

According to a 24 Oras report by John Consulta, more than 100 passengers bound for Batangas passed through a bus terminal in Cubao, Quezon City for last-minute trips.

"Nabalitaan namin na sobrang grabe na 'yung pasahero kagabi, kaya sabi namin agahan na lang namin although expected namin na marami pa ring pasahero,” said passenger Marylene delos Santos.

There were fewer passengers bound for Northern provinces within the terminal.

There was also a significant decrease in passengers at the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange.

Most passengers cited that they had work duty, which only allowed them to travel on Thursday.

There were also fewer passengers lining up to enter the Ninoy Aquino Terminal Airport Terminal 4, while there was a normal queue at the NAIA Terminal 1.

Lines were also comparatively less at the NAIA Terminal 2.

Security is also tightened at the Batangas Port as the authorities ensure smooth flow of ships, having recorded a total of 70,000 passengers since Palm Sunday.

Meanwhile, a woman was arrested at the Passenger Terminal Building of the Port of Puerto Galera, Oriental Mindoro for joking that she had a bomb.

The woman was immediately apprehended by the Port Police, Coast Guard Personnel, and the Philippine National Police, and is facing charges for violating the anti-bomb joke law. —Jiselle Anne Casucian/NB, GMA Integrated News
