(SPOT.ph) When one thinks of Escolta, one might think of its much-awaited street parties in recent years, or it being a center of finance and commerce in Manila way back in the 1930s. Today, it's a pretty quiet stretch that comes alive on weekends, or when its heritage jewel, First United Building, is hosting an event. The historic structure has become home to a variety of creative shops like pre-loved store Glorious Dias, and there's even a seriously good cafe called The Den. But did you know that in one of its floors is a pretty cool co-working space? Yup, we're talking about the FIRST Coworking Community co-working space.

While the country's past remains etched on its walls and corridors, the First United Building (originally known as the Perez-Samanillo Building) has also become a "vibrant canvas for artistic and cultural expression" in recent years. Its rooms and halls have served as galleries, as well as workshop and performance spaces and, yes, even 24/7 co-working spaces.
The FIRST Coworking Community is located on the fifth floor, in units 502 and 506 of the building. The spot boasts a great view of the Manila skyline through its floor-to-ceiling windows, and offers a homey vibe, marrying its old world bones with modern amenities such as, well, high-speed internet connection—an essential for those who come here to get some work done. Guests can choose their work spot from among the tables available, but there's also a meeting table as well as a space with sunken seats for when you get tired of sitting on the chairs.
They're open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. So it doesn't matter if you're on the graveyard shift or an early morning person—you can drop by and have a peaceful time working. However, you have to keep an eye out if they have scheduled events. They hold private events, meetings, and even photoshoots, too.
You have access to unlimited coffee and water, too, at FIRST Coworking Community. If you need to print something, you can get ten pages from their paper stock for free. Space to put your things? No problem. They have lockers.
