BEING ON TV IS A SCARY PROSPECT - MOTORWAY HOTEL

The head of a Staffordshire hotel starring in its own TV show has described it as an amazing opportunity that came completely out of the blue.

The Moat House, in Acton Trussell, which is just off the M6, is the focus of a new Channel 5 series, The Motorway Hotel.

Emily Lewis, the boss at the hotel, said the team were initially apprehensive about agreeing to be filmed as they went about their daily work.

"But things like this don't come about everyday for small businesses like us," she said.

The observational documentary was filmed over three months at the 41-bed hotel and restaurant, near to junction 13 of the M6.

The thought of having cameras following the team around and then appearing on national television had been a scary prospect, said Ms Lewis.

However, the opportunity to reach a whole new audience and grow the business further was "huge."

"The big thing for us was getting used to what is everyday to us, is not everyday to everybody else," said Ms Lewis.

The film crew wanted to capture the elements of the business the team consider "quite mundane," such as preparing for a wedding, or answering the phone.

But it was exciting to see how the show had been put together, said Ms Lewis, who described it as a "positive process which hopefully will showcase our industry to its best".
